  70. This package contains the MWGL - MEDLIN WINDOWS GENERAL LEDGER, by Jerry
  71. Medlin, MEDLIN ACCOUNTING SHAREWARE.  This document contains only a brief
  72. description of the package and its features, along with instructions for
  73. its installation.  Detailed documentation is included in the package in
  74. the form of a Windows Help file and a .WRI file.

  76. If you've ever wished you could easily handle your bookkeeping with a
  77. Windows program, WITHOUT SPENDING TIME READING A MANUAL, then MWGL -
  78. Medlin Windows General Ledger is the program for you!  This program is
  79. very quick and easy to use.

  81. MWGL - Medlin Windows General Ledger is a shareware program.  This
  82. evaluation version includes all features of the program.  You may use it
  83. for up to 30 days, without charge (see MWGL.HLP for more details).  If
  84. you like the program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation
  85. period, you are required to pay for the program. Any fee you may have
  86. paid to others (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain this evaluation

  111. ===== Installation =====================================

  113. The installation procedure for MWGL - MEDLIN WINDOWS GENERAL LEDGER is
  114. quite simple.  The disk package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which
  115. automates the entire process.  MWGL requires less than 1/4 megabyte of
  116. disk space.  The program requires no changes to any existing files on
  117. your hard disk.
  118.  
  119. The file VBRUN300.DLL must be in your Windows\System directory for MWGL
  120. to run.  It is not included in this .ZIP file to shorten your download
  121. time.  If you do not have a copy of VBRUN300.DLL, it should be available
  122. from the same source you downloaded MWGL.  VBRUN300.DLL is a "library"
  123. file that is shared by most windows programs.  You only need one copy, no
  124. matter how many of your programs use it.

  126. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  127.  
  128. To install from diskette, you need to perform the following steps.
  129.  
  130.    o  Place MWGL distribution diskette in the appropriate diskette drive.
  131.    Start Windows.
  132.  
  133.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program on the distribution diskette. For
  134.    Windows 3.1x, choose File/Run from the Program Manager or by double
  135.    clicking on SETUP.EXE from the File Manager.  For Windows 95, use
  136.    Start/Run.
  137.  
  138.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program. The
  139.    program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy the
  140.    MWGL files to that directory.  If you so direct it, the installation
  141.    program will install executable programs and documentation in other
  142.    directories of your choice.  It will not modify your autoexec.bat or
  143.    config.sys files or any Windows files.

  147. INSTALLING FROM A ZIP FILE
  148.  
  149. If you downloaded MWGL from a BBS (or received it in the form of zipped
  150. files from some other source), perform the following steps.

  152.    o  Use the File Manager or drop to DOS to create a temporary directory
  153.    on your hard drive. Change directory into the new directory.
  154.  
  155.    o  Run the unzip program by typing PKUNZIP MWGL*.ZIP from the DOS
  156.    prompt or from the File/Run section of Program Manager.
  157.  
  158.    o  You may run the program directly from File Manager/Explorer or
  159.    create a program group and a program item using File/New in Program
  160.    Manager. You must have a copy of VBRUN300.DLL in your Windows System
  161.    directory for the MWGL program to run.  Chances are you already do. If
  162.    not, you may download VBRUN300.DLL from any BBS.

  166. Once you've complete the installation, you should consult the help file
  167. ("MWGL.HLP").  You may read the MWGL.HLP by double clicking it from the
  168. File Manager or by pressing F1 from inside MWGL or by choosing HELP from
  169. the MWGL menu bar.  The help file allows you to read the entire file
  170. sequentually by clicking the >> symbol.
